Koh Lan is the most visited island in Chonburi Province. Each beach offers a variety of activities from water sports to sunbathing. Ko Lan lies 8 Km away from the nearest shore and it is about 4 Km in length. It is a hilly island, covered with low tropical forest; its highest point reaches 205 m and there is a Buddhist shrine on top of the mountain. The island has two small villages on it: Ban Ko Lan and Ban Krok Makhan where there are lodgings and restaurants. There are ferries connecting Ko Lan to the mainland. Some local tour operators in nearby Pattaya organize picnic and snorkelling excursions to Ko Lan because there is a relaxed atmosphere and beaches with clear water.

Koh Lan is 45 minutes from Pattaya beach by boat or 20 minutes by long-tail boat. Most of the tour boats make anchor to take advantage of the foodshops and stalls along these beaches. Facing Hat Thong Lang are coral ranges. Visitors can choose glass-bottom boats and surface-diving. Hat Samae is located to the southwest while Hat Ta Phan is to the west of the island.

It’s conveniently accessible with regular ferry and speedboat leaving Balihai pier in south Pattaya as early as 8 o’clock. It’s the island of fun. The ferry ride takes about 40 minutes. Ferries leave South Pattaya Pier daily from 10:00 am to 6.30 pm, the one-way fare is 20 Baht. The return ferry leaves Koh Lan’s Na Ban Beach at 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm.

Most of Ko Lan’s beaches are on its western side. The most visited one is Tawaen Beach, where there is a small harbor. All the length of the beach is lined with small tourist shops behind which are dining halls of restaurants whose menu is based mainly on fish and seafood. Other beaches are Tonglang Beach, Tien Beach, Samae Beach and Naon Beach.

The water is nice and clean and the sand nice and golden. You can snorkel, jetski, parasail or banana boat near here. There is also a small shop selling souvenirs, and freshly cooked Thai food. You can also hire sun loungers and other equipment. The best thing about Koh Lan Island is you will not get bothered by any vendors trying to sell you things and there is no sign of traffic unlike South Pattaya and Jomtien beaches.

The island is somewhat an extension of the mainland activities, featuring water sports such as diving snorkeling, windsurfing, waterskiing and para-sending. A key attraction is boats sailing around the island for sightseeing purposes. Some of the boats have glass bottoms enabling passengers to see coral and marine life at the bottom of the sea. The island has a number of beaches, the main beach hosting a number of excellent seafood restaurants selling dishes made from freshly caught seafood. The area also features deep sea fishing boats around Koh Lan’s neighbours, Koh Krok and Koh Sak.

The reason why Koh Lan, Pattaya has become the most preferred choice of the travelers is its attractive location coupled with easy reach. As there are many convenient ways to reach this island so many travelers keep on giving it a frequent visit. However keeping this apart.

The longest beach in koh lan is “Haad Ta Waen” and most popular beach of Koh Lan. This 750-metre-long beach has clear waters and white fine sand. The beach, which is popular among Asian tourists, is lined with colourful beach chairs, shops and restaurants. Located in the west of Koh Lan is Haad Tian. This scenic beach in the cove stretches 500 metres long and features some coral reefs. It is as popular as Haad Ta Waen with loads of sport activities and restaurants on the offer. Another beach near Haad Ta Waen is Haad Sungwal. It is a small beach, only around 150 metres long. Without any shops or restaurant in the area, the beach is quieter than Haad Ta Waen and good for sunbathing. For those who prefer basking in the sun in peace, Haad Samae and Haad Ta Yai may serve your purpose. The first beach, which is only 10 minute walk from Haad Tian, is relatively quiet with shops and restaurants dotting the area. Nestling on the northern tip of the island, the latter beach has fewer beach goers and only one beachside restaurant.

Besides, of all the activities the one which is tried maximum in Koh Lan Pattaya is boat sailing around the island. The boat sailing is basically adopted by most of the tourists to sightsee its surrounding attractions. There are some boats which have glass bottoms. These boats enable passengers see underwater coral and marine life of the sea. The Dive Sites of Koh Lan are also beautyful with Corals Reef both hard and solf and abunadnt of marine life and corals.
